It’s International Self-Care Day!

CMHA recognizes International Sel-Care Day July 24

CMHA Niagara joins individuals and organizations around the world on July 24th, in celebration of International Self-Care Day.

The awareness day is intended to emphasize the importance of self-care and its direct impact on staying healthy and preventing or delaying an illness. Prioritizing self-care is about self-preservation, allowing you to efficiently work through problems, stress, and other difficult situations without minimizing your own needs. CMHA Niagara’s mission is to strengthen mental wellness in Niagara and we believe that early access and intervention is imperative to supporting the resiliency and recovery of those experiencing mental health concerns. With the right supports, their lives can, and do, get better.

To ensure people receive the mental health and addiction supports they need and get connected with longer-term services as needed, CMHA offers a continuum of services including urgent support counselling services, Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program (by referral only through OSP West who accepts referrals from healthcare providers and self-referrals from potential clients – OSPWest.ca), Safe Beds, Crisis Outreach and Intervention Support Team, Mobile Crisis Rapid Response Team, Real Work Specialized Employment Program, Support with Housing, Transitional Housing program, Justice Programs, Youth & Young Adult Coordinated Care Planning and Community Support Program.

Self-care is a necessity when it comes to your mental wellbeing, and it doesn’t need to take up too much of your time. If you are wondering where to start, CMHA Ontario’s 15 minutes just for you resource is filled with self-care strategies and tips. Each technique only takes 15 minutes and is designed to help boost your mental, emotional, physical, social and spiritual health.
