Free Mental Health Support to Frontline Workers

In response to COVID-19, CMHA Niagara is offering free short-term supportive counselling to Niagara health care and social services staff, teachers and education support staff who may be experiencing stress and anxiety due to working during the pandemic.

Frontline workers who are over 18 years of age may access up to four one-hour telephone or virtual mental health support sessions Monday through Friday. These sessions will provide a wellness toolkit and resources to support mindfulness, acceptance, relaxation, and self-compassion. Handouts and additional resources will be provided as appropriate.

Developed by CMHA Hamilton in collaboration with Psychiatry at St. Joseph’s Hospital, CMHA Niagara staff have been trained to deliver this program to workers struggling with anxiety and/or psychological distress related to COVID-19.

Please note: Those with severe stress reactions, or other mental illness, active self-harm or suicide histories, and cognitive impairment are not suited for this service.

To learn more and inquire about a referral to this service, call the Access Line at 1-866-550-5205, ext. 2.
