CMHA Niagara St. Catharines Branch to Open Doors April 4

(St. Catharines, April 4, 2022) –

As pandemic restrictions lift across the province and region, the St. Catharines location of Canadian Mental Health Association, (CMHA) Niagara Branch will be open to the public on Monday, April 4, 2022.

Members of the public seeking connection with CMHA Urgent Support Services will be able to access in-person services, without appointment, at 264 Welland Avenue (off Tasker St.), St. Catharines, on weekdays from 11:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. In addition, virtual and phone services will remain an option for this program and appointments can be made.

Services at our Niagara Falls, Fort Erie, and Welland locations will remain “by appointment” at this time, and people are encouraged to call to make arrangements.

“Our focus remains on maximizing access to programs and services, while continuing to ensure the safety of everyone at our sites,” said CMHA Niagara’s Executive Director Tara McKendrick. “We are considered a health care setting, so people can be reassured that we continue to require vaccination for our staff, as well as continued precautions such as screeners, masking, hand hygiene, physical distancing and use of partitions for in-person interactions.”

While public health measures will remain for staff, individuals seeking service will not be asked for proof of vaccinations and, while encouraged and recommended, it will not be mandatory for clients and visitors to wear face masks, except for in congregate living programs, such as Safe Beds.

“It has been a long 2 years with our doors locked, and we are looking forward to starting to welcome our community back to our St. Catharines location in person, without appointment, for same-day service,” said McKendrick. “We are proud that we have been able to continue to provide service despite the pandemic restrictions, and this next step will reintroduce another option to people seeking our support, with the confidence that measures are in place to keep everyone reassured that their safety and health are also considered.”
