CMHA Niagara recognizes National Social Work Week

Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Niagara branch, is joining others across Canada this week in honouring and recognizing the diligence, dedication and importance of social workers.

March 6-10 is National Social Work Week. Social workers are a critical part to the supports and services provided through CMHA Niagara as well as many other community-based agencies and health care settings. Social work is often at the core of services related to mental health, addictions, housing, employment, justice and more.

According to the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW), there are more than 20,000 registered social workers in Ontario alone. Social workers are embedded in health care, long-term care, schools, community mental health, addictions support, private practice and more to provide early intervention, reduce barriers and deliver direct, ongoing, quality mental health care.

From CMHA Niagara, thank you social workers for all you do to support those with mental health and addictions needs!
